Districts

The Structure

The heart of the organization is at the chapter (local) level. The structure of the Iowa FFA Association is made up of six districts and twenty-one sub-districts. The six district advisors (high school Agricultural Education Instructors) work with their respective district officer teams and twenty-one sub-district advisors (high school Agricultural Education Instructors) who organize and host sub-district events.

District Leadership

Each district has its own advisor and officers. District officers are juniors or seniors in high school. The President of the district officer team is the State Vice President from their respective district (for example, the North Central State Vice President is the North Central District President). District Officer duties include:

  • Organizing and facilitating Chapter Officer Leadership Training (COLT) in the Summer
  • Organizing and facilitating Greenhand Fire-Up (GFU) in Fall
  • Developing and supporting District-wide Events
  • Conducting District Convention in March
  • Many other activities throughout the year
Training is held throughout the year for district officers to help them perform and operate at the caliber necessary to have an effective and fun year. Being a district officer is an honor that comes with a lot of responsibility.
